Thread: Acer Travelmate 6293-6889 Laptop

Not all thin and light notebooks coming out of the belt-bursting with sex appeal. Take the Acer TravelMate 6293: The life of the battery, which has in spades. Anything else? Not so much. This notebook is totally packed black quite well in that all laptops will use, but if this machine is to go on a diet and losing 0.6 pounds, which would qualify as a good business for an ultra portable. Acer no doubt the goal was to cut corners - and some standard notebook connections - a success for a tasty price of $ 999, perfectly acceptable for a business budget. But the result is a laptop that is a bit frumpy.




The speed of the TravelMate 6293 is good, too, although not as impressive. The 2.26-GHz Core 2 Duo P8400 unit equipped with 2 GB of RAM into a pretty impressive WorldBench 6 score of 90, you should be able to handle any job quickly, limited only by the video memory shared. The lack of a dedicated graphics card is an unfortunate feature of small laptops that effectively eliminates gaming; memory is too low to support 3D shooters with fancy shading.
