Like the Acer Aspire 4920 (covered in Loct07 issue), the Acer Aspire 4520 is also based on the Gemstone design, but it lacks the punch that Aspire 4920 had. It misses out on elegance, doesn't have the dedicated touch button for media playback, and the 3D logo on the top of the lid, which was the centre of attraction in the Aspire 4920 isn't there either.

Based on AMD Athlon 64 processor this 14.1 inch notebook comes with
1 GB of DDR2 RAM. It has a dedicated NVIDIA 7000m graphics card and scored well in our 3D Mark test but nothing extraordinary. We had troubles while trying to run most of the current generation games. The various connectivity options that this one has include Bluetooth, WiFi, FireWire, S-Video VGA, 4 USB ports, and a memory card reader. The odd design of touchpad buttons doesn't gel well with the overall white base and looks out of sync. Being a low cost option, we didn't expect it to perform exceptionally well, but it performed satisfactory; in fact it performed better than the Sahara EK50 (reviewed this month). At a price of 33k and the performance that it offers, this one is surely an enviable option that you can go for.
