This does not work for me i follow your steps, but my Acer 5315 does not boot at all?
Attempt-ing FN + esc key all, but my Acer laptop stays dead? Can you help?

1.) that is holding the FN + ESC keys at all times
2.) What did the FORMAT thumb drive so that ICL50HW.fd is the only file on the thumb drive
3.) What happens when HOLD FN + ESC and then plug the power with your thumb-drive connected
4.) How long until the power cuts and the system shuts down?

Battery out of my lap and hold the Fn key + Esc on the AC plug and push the power button

However, the system is dead, nothing happens at all.
And I am tumbdrive with the file but the system does not even turn the fan.

I sound like you have more than a dead BIOS chip ... my computer turns on and turn the CPU fan, even without this one.....

I tend to lean towards a bad mother ... because there is no load board... must be the motherboard or the AC POWER ADAPTER.
