Thread: Acer and External Mic Problem?

So I have an acer aspire 4710 with Vista. I couldnt have had worst luck coz i have been having problems with the laptop and vista since day one. But the problem now is that I have been trying to work with an external mic connected to the laptop. I have an integrated mic and camera but i prefer using an external coz if i use the integrated one, i have to basically kiss my laptop for the other person to hear me.Now the problem is that the external mic is not recognized. In the volume controls, i have got three options under recording devices, that is: 2 microphone options and a line in option. If this is not confusing enough, depending on the mic, the 2 microphone options alternate. So there's no default.Can anyone plz plz help me. Sometimes it works but the person i am talkin to say that they barely can hear me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Ok try this, click the right click the sound buton thingy on the bar thingy with the start buton on it, and click volume mixer and turn up the mic... I use the built in one, and im not suure about the other one, but maybe the recorder is not upgraded enough for vista.
