The Acer Aspire 8940 is a multimedia notebook launched in November 2009 as a descendant to the 8935. It sustains its predecessor’s 18.4” 1080p-compliant widescreen display with backlighting; 5.1-channel speaker system with speakers built directly into the framework and touch-sensitive media controls. The major dissimilarity is the addition of a more commanding Intel Core i7 1.6GHz processor and a newer GeForce GTS 250M graphics card. Incorporated also is 4GB of DDR3 memory, a 500GB SATA hard-disc drive and either a BD or DVD player. Note also the HDMI output for conveying content to a friendly HDTV, in addition to the eSATA port for connecting an external drive. Overall, the Aspire 8940 obtains a slight step up from preceding models in the Aspire series; it buffs up on specifications, while holding onto key 'peripherals'.
