The Acer 5738DG is the first commercially obtainable 3D notebook to appear in India. What Acer has done is apply the technology formed by DDD (Dynamic Digital Depth) called TriDef into their notebook. This contains a special polarized 3D screen that functions with passive polarized glasses to offer you the Stereoscopic 3D effect.

Some of the main benefits of using this technology over active shutter glasses are;

3D glasses require not be powered creating them cheaper to make
Screen require not have 120Hz refresh rate, again decreasing the cost
Works with ATI and NVIDIA graphics cards
Generally cheaper to apply
Works on Win XP also
