The Karizma against Bajaj's 220. All told, the new Karizma is now potentially slower. So, what about the engine.Well. the new Karizma (still) displaces 223 cubic centimetres and is rated to put out 16.8 bhp@7000 rpm with 1.84 kgm of torque. It's enjoyable but the real question is if it will hold its line when the Pulsar 220 is launched. The Kari was always a cool customer. and that personality remains. The engine has this unstressed feel to it which is perfectly reflected in the chassis setup. Ride one hard, ride it gently, attack corners or cruise across a state or two, the feel is one of calm, easy speed. It is a fast motorcycle, but refuses to feel urgent or frenetic. Which can be a good or bad thing depending on your riding style. Pillions will love this bike, since the pillion perch is plush, spacious and the rear pegs are totally vi be free.

The Karizma also happens to handle broken roads and proper off-road riding really well. Put it down to its CRF230F genes. Show the Karizma a pothole or two, ora broken track, stand on the pegs and off she goes. Not that it's a slouch on better roads. Ride quality is sublime. We still believe it has the bestride quality of any Indian motorcycle so laLl! can glide over the broken roads without a flutter passing through the saddle. Marvellous. However, would allow full exploitation of the stable handling of the Karizma. Corners are handled with poise and speed, but you have to learn to trust the package because the contact patch events are transmitted slightly fuzzily.

Once you do develop that relationship, however, a Karizma is a highly capable machine with a calm demeanour that encourages all kinds of riding. The Karizma has been updated lightly and now has to fight the Pulsar 200 and the Pulsar 220. The P180 was already a performance match (and more frugal besides), so the P200 and the P220 are both a little superior in performance terms. However, the Karizma's USP is that it still looks like a bigger machine than both, and has that laid back speed which is quite at odds with the frenetic nature of the Pulsars. As a VFM buy, the price tag is a bit steep, but if your heart says Karizma, listen to it.
