Roehr motorcycles LLC was formed in January earlier this year and the company is all set to put their first superbike prototype into production from November 2008. The company claims that the Roehr 1250SC will be the most powerful American made production sports bike till date. Work on the bike started back in 2002 just after the debut of the Harley-Davidson V-Rod. The Roehr 1250SC is powered by an 180PS engine which is a specially developed version of the V-Rod engine. It is loosely based on the Harley-Davidson VR1000 superbike motor. The mill that will make it to the production is a 1250CC liquid cooled, DOHC, eight valve, 50 degree V-twin and will produce a peak torque of 155Nm.
The manufacturer has applied its Roehr Supercharging System (RSS) technology to enhance the engine's power output without changing the character of its power delivery. Additionally, it will make the engine quite fuel efficient. The 1250SC is built on a bimetal composite beam frame. It sports a single-sided swing arm and a quick change rear sprocket carrier. The exhaust system boasts of carbon fibre end cans from Akrapovic. The bike's styling largely resembles the Italian manufacturers' designs, however, the Roehr with its single seat will restrict you from taking your girlfriend for a ride. As the company states, it's a bike meant for track use and it can be custom painted according to the owner's taste.
