The i20 IS the successor to the Getz and will replace it in Europe but in India both cars will be sold alongside. The i20 is essentially a car that is intended for export markets but it is an important model for India as well. Since the i20 has been developed with the export markets in mind, you can expect the best quality standards from Hyundai.
In terms of size, it is significantly bigger than the Getz and more spacious as well. Equipment levels are expected to be high and the i20 will meet the latest European crash standards, so expect it to be safe as well.

The i20 will have a wide range of engines. The base model will be powered by the 1.2'Kappa' motor that has just been introduced in the i10. There could also be the larger 1.4 and 1.6 'Sigma' petrol engines which are significantly more powerful. Diesel power will come in the form of the potent llobhp motor that powers the Verna. If you are looking at buying a spacious and no-nonsense hatchback, then the i20 seems like a good bet and worth the wait.
