We've been predicting a face-lift for the Ford Ikon or 9bme time now and it's finally been confirmed by spy pictures sent by eagle-eyed readers. The Ikon has been around for ages and is one car that really needs a makeover. New products from competition loaded with features and more importantly diesel variants of entry level sedans like the Logan and the Swift DZire have beaten Ford's volume player into a corner. But Ford has been on the job and what you are looking at is the all-new Ford Ikon.

The new Ikon not just gets refurbished looks with a large gaping grille in keeping with Ford's new design language and headlamps inspired by the new face lifted Fiesta but more importantly it is likely to offer the lA-litre TDCi commol1 rail diesel engine from the Fiesta. The old l.8-litre diesel in the Ikon no longer meets stringent emission norms. The 1.3-litre ROCAM petrol will continue in the line-up. Ford has been listening to customer complaints of dated interiors so expect the new Ikon to sport a more contemporary looking dash and seats. Ford will do well to bring in some of the interior look of the Fiesta into the Ikon as customer expectations have gone up for even entry level cars.
