Volkswagen India have finally launched the Jetta sedan in India. Launching it with two engine options in three variants, the Jetta will slot itself in the premium entry executive space where the Honda Civic and Skoda Laura currently rule the roost. The Jetta is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol with a 5-speed manual transmission, producing about 101 bhp.

While the other engine is the 19 TDI PO from the Laura that produces 103 bhp, but is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed DSG. for the diesel Trendline and for the diesel Comfortline with DSG, ex-showroom Delhi. Volkswagen will assemble the car at its Aurangabad facility. Meanwhile the company is in the process of putting finishing touches to its Pune plant, which should be up and running in a few months time.
