After the Passat and the Jetta, Volkswagen is aiming at introducing cars on their popular 010 platform in India. The hatchback version of the Polo that has been successful across the world will be introduced first, albeit with a few design modifications, followed by the Polo Sedan.
Locally, the Polo hatch will compete with Volkswagen's own, the Skoda Fabia and the expected to arrive, Honda Jazz. The car is expected to be equipped with I.z-litre and 1.4-litre engine options similar to that of the Fabia. It will be rolled out from Volkswagen's new factory at Chakan near Pune.

The Polo Sedan is currently available in China and Brazil. In India, it will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki SX4 and the Chevrolet Aveo for its market share. The car will likely run on a bigger I.6-litre engine with a lA-litre option in petrol and diesel variants.
