They dont call the S-class the best car in the world for no reason. The top model from Mercedes-Benz remains our favourite for the third time in a row. There are other cars which can compete with it, but the S is something of a special breed. When it comes to sheer prestige and sumptuousness, the ubiquitous Mercedes' place is reserved. When technology is as accessible to car makers as a packet of detergent is to us, the S class remains a tough act to follow. It has always been a pioneer in safety and technological features with the latest gadgetry.
The ultimate symbol of understated power and opulence in its current ninth-generation avatar, the car in India is available in various options of petrol and diesel engines. Those who have the extra dough can even opt for the long wheelbase L version. All engines perform brilliantly and do complete justice to their existence under the bonnet. The car's performance is further aided by a long list of gizmos and keep the heft of the car in check to make you feel as if you're driving a wide, squat hatch and not a 5.2 metre long, lardy, two tonne heavy limo.

This cat indeed is luxury and simplicity petsonified. The list of technical marvels goes on. The doors will be sucked in if you forget to close them properly, the wipers will get to work the moment the first rain drop hits the windscreen, the headlights turn on automatically much before it gets dark, et al. The S will cosset you in opulence and spoil you rotten without you having to ask for it. Mollycoddling hardly gets better than this - the epitome of style and safety on two wheels. The S-class is the world's best car indeed.
