With assembly in India now, prices are competitive vis-a-vis its direct rivals. The rear-driven chassis is wonderfully well-balanced, incisive and decidedly sporty and the weighty steering gives superb feedback. But the ride is firm - perhaps a little too firm for Indian sensibilities -and may put off some buyers. Of the two petrols on offer the 2.5 six is the one to go for as the smaller four is not that lively. The diesel also makes a lot of sense other than saving on run¬ning costs the 320d is surprisingly quick and sporty.
