Japan's largest heavy truck maker, Hino Motors is planning to set up shop in India to tap the growing commercial vehicle market. Hino and Marubeni Corp, a Japanese trading company, will start selling trucks. This venture is aiming to sell around 2,000 units in the first year and will target sales of about 20,000 units. Hino, which makes the Ranger and Dutro trucks, is keen on building its international presence as growth from emerging markets has outpaced commercial vehicle sales in Japan. While it is not clear whether Hino will assemble its trucks in India, industry experts said that the company may tie up with a local contract manufacturer.
