Nissan launched the Teana luxury sedan in the Indian market just about a year back but the car hasn't exactly set the sales chart on fire. A reason for that was also the lack of visibility of both brand and product. However, looking at Nissan's future plans, the launch of the new Teana might change all that. The new Teana was launched earlier this year and gets refreshed looks. Up front you get a three dimensional grille flanked by larger and sleeker pair of lamps. In the top-of-the-line variants, the options include bi-xenon lamps and AFS technology in the headlamps. The airdam sits lower down on the new bumper which also gets recesses for the fog lamps. The Teana by the side gets mild flanks and the large windows make it bright inside. At the rear it gets a new pair of tail lamps which the company informs will improve visibility.

Moving inside, the interiors are now more contemporary. There's a new instrument panel and soft grain plastic all around the dashboard. The complete colour tone of the dash has been kept so that the dash's floating design is emphasized. Apart from the beige and wood finish combo, the Teana's it also gets black and silver. The front seats have been upgraded as well (see box). Moving on to the rear, the car sports an Ottoman comfort seating with an arm chair like folding lower panel. Also in the offing is the glass roof which can be operated in a variety of styles and when you want to tuck into the Teana, just shut the interior blinds via an electric motor.

Nissan offers the new Teana with a choice of two engines a 2.5-litre with 185bhp, and the more powerful3.5-litre V6 which produces 252bhp. The VQ engines utilise a six-point engine mounting system that better disperses engine torque-induced vibration and has lower spring constants for reduced engine noise during start off and acceleration. The new Teana is based on a newly developed Nissan 'D' platform and hence the engineers have reworked the suspension to give the occupants a more comfortable ride. Not only the ride, Nissan has also made an effort to make the Teana even safer than before. Hence, the car gets safety features like VDC and TCS along with plenty of airbags.
