The Volvo V50 was launched in early 2004 as slightly larger changes in their Dutch heritage built V40 predecessor. The design and specification language level more closely harmonized with the larger Volvo V70 car. The aim was to give customers great car properties in a compact format and with clearly sporty nuances.
