Adjusted for the sale in early 2009 (and a spyder version below), its name honors the founder Enzo Ferrari, the son Alfredino "Dino" Ferrari, who died in 1956 at the age of 24 from a muscular dystrophy.
Ferrari started to work in the new Dino in 2004, but the company changed its plans and the result was a Maserati. The chassis and the technology used on the Maserati model will now be approved for the new Dino; as a result of the new 2 +2 Coupe will be smaller than the 612.
If the classic Dino was powered by a V6 engine, the next model will be a 2 +2 seat model powered by a 4.2 liters V8 (Maserati) engine with an output of 400 hp.
