General Motors will expose at the Chicago Auto Show the Hummer H3T; an unplanned truck based on the accepted H3, but characteristics a five-passenger team cab and a separate five-foot-long (1.5 meters) bed. It is the only midsize truck to come average with full-time four-wheel drive, 32-inch tires and realistic skid shields. It also is the only midsize truck to offer front and back locking differentials, as well as 33-inch tires.
The H3T is offered in four trim levels, including five-cylinder models and the accepted, V-8-powered H3T Alpha version. Production is planned to begin in the third quarter of 2008.
The standard edition is motorized by a Vortec 3.7L I-5 with dual overhead cams and changeable valve timing. This inline five-cylinder engine offers an outstanding combination of power and competence, delivering 242 hp at 5600 rpm and 242 lb.-ft. of torque at 4600 rpm. The engine is mated with a five-speed physical transmission or an available four-speed, electronically controlled automatic.
