Now it's worked its way into HP's stylish tx2 touchscreen notebook - but is it worth the wedge for an extra dimension? Amid much fanfare, HP proudly announced the tx2 as the world's first multi-touch laptop, with the ability to twist, pinch and gesture your way through menus, pics and suchlike. Are you gonna tell them that Dell's Latitude XT beat them to it, or shall we? HP may refer to it as a digital pen, but there's no fooling us - that black stick tethered to the tx2 is a stylus. Hopefully it's not an admission that the touchscreen is a bit bobbins and more of a nod towards the laptop's graphics capabilities.
Aside from rotating and scrolling through snaps, you can also write the letter M on the screen to launch the HP's media smart menu. It's pressure sensitive too, so featherlight strokes with the stylus result in proportionally faint lines on the screen and vice-versa. Squirreled away in the tx2's express card slot is a mini remote control. Pop the little fella out of his house and you can control all your tunes and vids from the other side of the lounge - although it helps if you can still see the screen.
