    Default Valve Games

I'm going to be obtaining a novel computer soon and I'll have to reinstall all my games. Unhappily I bought Counter Strike Source so long before and I've lost the small CD key+control sheet that came with it. I do have a legit haze account.

I was marveling if I will require my CD key or if I can fix it via steam thus avoiding the Cd-key thing.

Or if there was a way for me to find the CD-key on my computer. Yes I have appeared at regedit but the numbers in the "key" section didn't look right. They were only numerical and on my hl2 and TF2 they were "12345678901234"... So... Yeah...

    Basically,
    1. If I fix these games on a novel computer can I use steam to do it to avoid the Cd-key inquiry?

    2. If 1 is not probable is there a way to find my CD-keys on my current computer. (The regedit keys didn't seem to be right.)

Your cd-key is put aside to your Steam account server-side so you should be capable of download and mount using Steam just well.

So how does valve stop someone from allocation their cd key with friends or an online community and thus sharing the game for at no cost with a group of people?

Easy, a cd-key will only effort one time. Then that game becomes lastingly locked to your account.

This is what makes steam so adaptable; you can go to a mates place, log in, download and participate in the game. BUT your mate then cannot play the game without your account; it’s greyed out under his account. There’s technically nothing stopping you "lending" an account to a mate but you won’t be able to play at the same time. Its inconvenience that stops people reproducing, same would be true for torrenting a non-steam game.

But what if two people log on to the similar account at the similar instance?

The second human being gets detached and the account gets ensigned for study of account sharing, which could product in a ban and deactivation of the cd-keys.

I occasionally recommend allowing my mates into my account to look at games I desire them to get into, it’s just a situation of messaging them my user / pw and giving them a few hours install / play time. (Very trusted old friends, mind).

Its an illegal use of my account, I’m aware of it sure....but then again if they go buy the game then Steam wins so I’m certain they wont have too many criticisms.

However when 2 people are playing the similar game and trying to save money by not buying it twice then you are seeming at something similar to a piracy matter.

"It's not actually heavy. It's blindingly apparent the law is being broken- you wouldn't have a leg to stand on!"

you could speak your only sharing your account with an associate or letting him use it or letting him attempt a game, and accidentally steam popped up and logged in when you started your desktop, or he not remembered to uninstall it, etc. copiousness of such ruilings could be made look at Sony and their securom stuff being sued over or all the battery recalls they had to deal with.

It’s that they can't play it at the similar time, quite much, and they have to purchase their own copy anyway. Same thing with letting your associate borrow your Xbox games, or ps3, whatever.

You are not permitted to divide your account with a friend, or use the playoffs you have set off on steam. Your account may only be used by the person who created the account. Please read the license agreements you decided to.

This is a ordinary misunderstanding about steam: Purchasing a game on Steam is more like buying a period ticket to a enjoyment arcade than it is to buying a game license.

You are paying for a service that allows you to play the game as long as Valve is offering the service. You do not have any license to resell or use it. You don't even have the right to play it - if valve would eliminate a game you paid for after a few years, then that would be completely legal.
