Sega’s response to Game Boy, Game Gear was another color handheld console first released in 1990 at a price of $150. This 8-bit portable from Sega sold 11 million units worldwide. Games which were sold for the Game Gear include popular titles such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Shining Force and other Disney titles. Sega also release Nomad as a handheld console for its Genesis gaming system. In 1997, Sega announced its discontinuation for support of this handheld console.
