The Sega Genesis (Japanese heading: Sega Mega Drive) was a 16-bit 'fourth-generation' video game console launched in 1989 in North America. Its major contestant was the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. With a lifetime of fourteen years and 29 million elements sold, it is Sega's most victorious console to date.
