You really need for redundant / information / whatever. This is inexcusable. Are you intentionally lying to deny that the proper support and service. Which country is you, or that the regional support that Dell is doing this lousy service?

The support of retards suggested buying a USB external card reader! I like... Uh ... OK ... What of the internal fixation of one!

Dell subcontractor here replacing my other monitor says it is compatible with ... I guess I have to keep fighting.

Just wanted to mention I tried a 2GB SD and SDHC 8GB card in my DELL XPS Studio 1340and both worked fine. Not sure if your card reader of the same model or not.

Just checked the driver’s page and both the DELL 1340 and DELL 1640 have RICOH R5C833 as the driver for the card reader. I'd assume both are the same as SDHC should work and then in DELL 1640 his property. Hopefully the replacement of the motherboard is responsible for the issue for you.

Has already shown that the official manual of this thread and to demonstrate that SDHC works. If you insist on the official manual is not correct, then make them prove it.

The 1640 product page (specification section) refers to an 8-in-1 card reader. What made the card instead of SDHC done again?

If you can not discuss your case with them, simply return the laptop. They say they bought it knowing that it can read SDHC as shown in the official manual. And everyone else for DELL 1640 can read SDHC.

Now I'm angry uber, only spent on a 2 GB Sandisk SD (not SDHC) card to Wal-Mart, and guess what? Yes, it does not work either....
