I also use the Zalman, but the nc1000. My only complaint is that you can not put a lot of air volume; it would be good if I'm up to the CPU for long periods of time. However, does a great job keeping it cool and it's really quiet.
Right now I'm not using my old name without cooling pad broke a while ago, but I have already ordered a Zalman nc2000 that I will use once I get my new laptop.
I do not like to emphasize my notebook a lot, so the refrigerator in my 90% -95% of their time on it.
Correction: Zalman units are not the best heatsinks out there.
For the system I have (not bragging or trying to sound like an idiot I am saying lol) no problems with heat, so do not even worry about a cooling pad ... If I had a laptop that was running hot or heated during the use of my hands that I would consider an asset.
I personally own / use the NZXT Cryo LX (brushed aluminum / black model). No doubt in my mind is the best cooler available today.
The NZXT is not what it has a slight advantage over the Zalman. I know it is larger (better for us 17-users) by a few inches, and three giant fans. But I have two questions: how is noisy compared to a Zalman NC-1000.
If I'm on the road, or @ home, I use the Logitech Alto stand wireless. Lappi is the props and the fans have no obstructions. It also comes with a USB mouse and keyboard to work well. I can adjust all the arts in the bag when on the road.
**** Something that looks pretty cool for the home or office use but I could imagine having in my travel bag.
I tried it, but just didn't work for me at that time * *... so I went to a friend..... * Now I'm starting to rethink the idea of having a cooling pad *
