LIKE THE BOND franchise before Daniel Craig came along, Pentax has been churning out stylish offerings for years with barely a tweak to their formula. This one doesn't cost much moneypenny, but offers you perfectly positioned controls, face detection, umpteen scene modes and great menus, all in a stunning metal body. Pictures are generally pretty fine, although they are less detailed than some rivals, with brighter parts of the image sometimes burnt out. The 2.5inch LCD isn't great in low light, while the autofocus also occasionally struggles. It's more a silver than a gold-star camera, but get the 510 at a low price and you'll be stirred, just like Bond's martini, or a Cup-A-Soup.
