NO PUNY 3X Zoom here; the mju 840 goes all the way to 5X, adding Dual-Image Stabilisation, 1.3-second start-up and excellent focusing, including face detection, for good measure. It also packs the best LCD on test generous, sharp and clear in low light. Build quality too is excellent, although the stylishness is diminished a touch by cheap-looking menus and plastic controls. Pictures are arguably a bit soft and warm, but that's a subjective view, and quality generally is fine, with plenty of detail. With features and performance to make many other compact cameras weep, the 840 is quite outstanding. If you can forgive the styling, you'll love it.
