The Coolpix L23 was added to Nikon'sLife range of digital cameras in February 2011. It is purposed at photography starter and has a 10.1 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoomlens, 2.7in LCD monitor and is powered using AA-size batteries.
TheL23 is available in blue, pink, red, black and silver. Another camerayou may be viewing at this price scope is the Canon Power shot A800,which is even ideal for starters but just has a 3.3x optical zoomlens.
The Coolpix L23 is a pretty builtcamera, looking rather sturdy while the battery cover does appearflimsy thus care is required when altering batteries and the memorycard. There are no issues when considering the LCD display in anylight conditions and the buttons are simple to press and prettyplaced on the camera. The camera's menu system is simple and easy tonavigate.
The camera is powered by AA batteriesthus as long as you have a spare adjust the camera will keep goingfor as long as you expect to take. The number of shots you can bringwith a set will depend upon the standard of batteries applied. Thecamera arrives provided with two LR5/L40 AA alkaline batteries butyou can even apply two FR5/L91 lithium batteries or two EN-MH2 Ni-MHrechargeable batteries.
Images made by the Coolpix L23 are veryrespectable for a camera inside this price scope. Colors arereproduced pretty and detail is good. When considering thebroad-angle shot at full size more detail is lost around the edgesbut detail is good throughout when applying the camera at its fulloptical zoom length. The Coolpix L23 makes pretty exposed images.
The Coolpix L23 has Easy Auto and Automodes. When using Easy Auto the only option the user can change isthe image size, whereas Auto allows the user to also change thewhite-balance, shooting mode and color alternatives like standardcolor, vivid color, black and white, sepia, cyanotype. With top ofthis there is smart portrait way, 17 scene ways and movie way.
