Nearly 3 years since the announcement of the professional E-3 digital SLR arrives the Olympus E-5, a Four Thirds digital SLR camera that has some physical alterations as compared to its predecessor, but few remarkable improvements nonetheless, having a higher-resolution sensor, a much bigger swiveling LCD, a novel low pass filter as well processor arrangement, and of course the extra of 720p HD video at 30 frames per second.


Though the E-3 was a long awaited update to the master flagship E-1, the Olympus E-5 is more of an additive update of an already capable Four Thirds digital SLR camera. If the E-5's pictures at least equal the great standard we have watched from the Olympus PEN Micro Four Thirds cameras, we will be fulfilled if they surpass them, too much the better.

Though its predecessor had the Nikon D300 as well Canon 40D to tangle with, the Olympus E-5 today faces a broader area of competent digital SLR cameras. As I said of the E-3, the Olympus E-5 looks extremely closely, solid, hefty, and appears well-thought-out. Its clasp is beefy and while it is a pretty heavy chunk of camera, it does not seem as a burden for few reason. Weight between the E-3 and E-5 has enhanced just a little amount, only 0.1 ounce (3g) to 31.5 ounces.


Every inch has a goal, and there is much more of room for the broad controls required with a professional-grade digital SLR camera. It is a great match for the hearty, beefy lenses produced for the Four Thirds system, having the refined 12-60mm f/2.8-4 lens that is equivalent to a 24-120mm lens.The Olympus E-5 has a big pentaprism as most of the other pro and semi-pro digital SLRs, but segment of that size is because of the pop-up flash. The large penta prism withing is large and smart, appearing similar if not similar to that with the E-3, sporting a magnification of 1.15x.


The Olympus E-3 is consider detector has 11 auto focus shows, which seem like black squares till yet they are lighted with bright red LEDs. The green status show runs along the bottom. It is however a small tight to watch everything of the frame ass the status screen on my glasses with, but there is a great big rubber eyepiece protector to preclude my glasses from scratching.
