MAKING A JOURNEY INTO A MARKET PREVIOUSLY they had not entered into, Casio introduced the EXILIM Pro EX- Fl along with 4 other digital cameras. Casio previously had only been in the compact consumer market with cameras becoming smaller and smaller each year. However it would appear they are trying to enter the larger market of super zoom's and perhaps DSLR's.

The 6 mega-pixel EX-Fl priced at Rs.40,000, sports a 12X zoom, a 2.8 LCD screen, full HD recording and a new burst feature that Casio claims can take up to 60 frames per second in high burst mode. It can hold up to 60 images in the buffer while continuously shooting. So theoretically an image can be prerecorded in burst mode by having it already in the buffer. Definitely an interesting idea and one I will certainly take a look at when we get a chance to test it out.

The EX-Fl also has the capability of recording movies at 1200fps. The EX-Fl can be set to record at resolutions of512x384 at 300fps, 432x192 at 600fps, and 336x96 at 1200fps. It can also do 1920x1080 at 60fps so recording HD movies might be a little easier. The other four cameras released today include the usual credit card style cameras we have been used to seeing from Casio. Image stabilization is used by detecting when the hand stops shaking and then takes the shot. Sporting 4 colors, (red, blue, silver, and black) a 2.7" LCD screen, and a 36-108mm equivalent lens we will see how it competes when available in February.

Last but not least we have the EX-Z80 coming in at an inexpensive $199. An 8.1 mega-pixel camera designed in 6 colors: pale pink, vivid pink, green, blue, black, and silver. Overall not a bad haul for Casio. We'll wait and see what kind of quality we get out of these and I can't wait to see the EX-Fl. All cameras will be available in March except the SIO which will arrive in February.
