Default SACD 5.1 surround sound via HDMI?

    Hello,

From many sourcesI've heard that the sound of SACDs is not transmitted via HDMI oroptical cable, but only over a 5.1-analog RCA output.

I amopening this new thread because I myself have discovered acontradiction. I ordered the Onkyo DV SP 506th In addition I have anOnkyo TX SR 507 A / V receiver, which unfortunately does NOTmulti-channel input, but for HDMI version 1.3a. The Wikipedia articleon "HDMI" says that is supported in 1.2 as the audio formatSACD. Ordered the DVD player has HDMI version 1.2a.

Now I cannow hear with the hardware SACDs in 5.1 sound through HDMI cable?

There SACD player, where it is. The Onkyo is good but not so. You simply load the operating manual. This is beautifully explained, is issued under what conditions Mehrkanakton via HDMI.

However, the Onkyo506 one of them. Just like the Pioneer610. But your AVR is not HDMI only, but also a DSD decoder needs (!) For SACDs. Onkyo has the 507er that?

Analog is just analog, which must be reinforced and just works.

Have you been to the Onkyo AVR? Other manufacturers offer that for smaller models (My Yamaha663 can do), if it really is that with Onkyo - I know there are not enough. Only eBay is no source for it.

I currently have the Onkyo TX-SR 507th But since he has no multi-channel input, it is already packed to be sent back to Amazon. Instead, I want the Onkyo TX-SR 605 used to get on ebay.

However, I could unpack the Onkyo 507 back and re-use, if I can play SACD multi-channel sound via HDMI.

Have times in the instruction manuals for the AVR 507 and AVR 605 nachgeguckt. This is it:

    Supported audio formats of 507:

    • 2-channel PCM (linear, 16/20/24 bit/32-192 kHz)
    • Multi-channel PCM (linear, 7.1 channels, 32-192 kHz)
    • Bitstream (DSD, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, dtshd
    Master Audio)

Well then everything is fine. Then he can do it all. Check it out if it also satisfactory work if the player is there. Sometimes there are a couple bitches with HDMI handshake.

I once got in schelcht source (ebay) and looked at expensive receivers that feature "Direct DSD for Super Audio CD." Now I ask myself:

What is the difference between "DSD Direct for Super Audio CD" and "DSD bit stream"?

On my Denon I can just DSD as "normal" or DSD set directly. Directly at the sound settings for the Auto Setup or manually bypassed incurred.

Incidentally, the most players (my 610er Pio, for example) the DSD data stream can even convert to multichannel PCM and then output it via HDMI. Thus, the AVR must be mastered no DSD, but only multichannel PCM. And almost anyone who can measure the sound via HDMI.

How do you get for the wrong-headed idea?

He accepts DSD and chases all over the DSP. Whether it is converted to PCM before I can not say. Is not described. But even if, so what. But how in the world you come up with the idea he would then walk back again to DSD? After the DSP processing is A / D converted.

I have a few questions about the player Onkyo DV-SP506:

Player of the DSD-Cancels-forwarding with you from when the (actually unnecessary for SACD playback) HDMI-out cable from the AV amplifier to the PC subtract?

Could you please retest it the times? It would be buying decision for me. The firmware update goes smoothly?

I think that is every player that outputs the signal via HDMI to be. Since breaking the HDCP-encrypted connection, and then along a new handshake must be performed.

On my HTPC I can at least observe similar.
