Calling a game a shooter summons up a selection of assumptions about the aspects it'll likely contain. In the situation of PixelJunk Shooter, though, any relations you might make derived from the name are perhaps wrong. Maybe its title is ambiguous you fire weapons and fly around in a 2D space, but it's positively not an Ikaruga-esque game of bullet hell. But if you can couch your prospect and just enjoy it for what it is, PixelJunk Shooter shows up as one of the more creative and entertaining downloadable games this year.
