Next Microsoft's footsteps, Sony is setting up to launch Premium PlayStation Subscription Service, as reported by VG247. Sony will be launching a subscription-based model like the Xbox LIVE Gold membership. We believe it s a smart step to push PSN right beside the Xbox LIVE service.

In an appearance for Media/Investor discussion, a slide referred PlayStation Network as gaining momentum. Sony PlayStation head Kaz Hirai said in a report, "SCE will further increase sales by presenting users new entertainment through the combination of hardware, software, peripheral and PlayStation Network. Especially in the online area, we are studying the option of introducing a subscription model, presenting premium content and services, besides the current free services." Read that? Sony is still thinking over it.
