The SATA-IO announces a new standardcombining the standard software 3.1 and SATA standard hardwarePCI-Express 3.0, SATA Express.Allow to exploit the capabilities ofSSD to reach speeds of 16 Gb / s.

Currently, there are alreadyconstrained by SSD SATA 3.1, which allows data rates of 6 Gb / s. Totake advantage of their capabilities, the SATA Express will use itone to two PCI-Express 3.0 to a maximum bandwidth of 8 Gb/s or 16Gb/s.

The new connector used for standardSATA Express should be backwards compatible with SATA today. A newconnector will take care to act as an interface between it and thePCI-Express motherboards. SSDs connected to the SATA Express willalways be recognized as a SATA device.
