The Linux OpenSUSE 12.1 is nowavailable for download in final form. Based on the core (kernel)Linux 3.1, OpenSUSE 12.1 takes advantage of a faster start withsystemd and defaults to ext4 file system Btrfs but is also supportedwith an interface to take snapshots named Snapper.
The KDE Plasma Desktop 4.7 is thedefault but there are also Gnome 3.2 with an improved version ofGnome Shell. Xfce and LXDE are also supported.
If Firefox is now 7 as default browser,Chromium 17 appeared in the deposits. Side applications, office suiteLibreOffice 3.4 is present as the software ownCloud, a private cloudsolution. OpenSUSE 12.1 also introduces the programming language Goto Google and compilation can be done with Clang.
Expect a change in the numbering offuture versions of OpenSUSE scheduled every eight months as "ab",the "a" moving without reference to the year and "b"represents the month of discharge (1 = November = July 2, 3 = March).The next version of OpenSUSE should be delivered in July 2012 underthe name OpenSUSE 12.2.
