Teams of Canonical have released the final version of their Linux distribution Ubuntu, codenamed 11.04 Natty Narwhal.
One of the main novelties introduced with Ubuntu 11.04 - which is based on the core / Linux kernel 2.6.38 - Unity is the interface by default, while so far the distribution based on Gnome.However, even with Unity, Gnome is still present as it is essential for the proper functioning of the office applications and present by default. Of course, users can also choose to use the Gnome desktop environment by opting for Ubuntu Classic on startup.
Canonical also communicate on the launcher, a sort of present dock on the left side of the screen that allows quick access to applications and favorites, as well as on the dash, a dashboard that makes it possible to quickly find applications and files via a search box.Workspaces and through, the user can manage multiple offices, windows and applications very simply by clicking on the icon of the launcher Workspaces.
Among other innovations, we find X.org 1.10.1, 7.10.1 Mesa, Upstart 0.7.9-1, Firefox 4.0 as default browser, office suite LibreOffice 3.3.2 instead of OpenOffice. Org, music player Banshee 2.0 by default instead of Rhythmbox or Remmina replaces Terminal Server Client.
