A Itec Lansing, owned by Plantronics, some time ago unveiled it's 'Upgrader' series of headphones at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and the new UHP336 is part of that series. Based on the 'Ultimate Ears triple-fi' earphones for professional use, the UHP336 uses vented armature speakers, a gold plated 3.5 mm jack, comes with several pairs of detachable ear buds in different sizes, including a pair of disposable foam ear tips and includes a neoprene carry case. It's important to find the right size of tips for your ear canal to seal off the ambient noise for ultimate comfort, and of course, good sound quality. Some may find the silicon buds better and some may get used to the foam tips.
If worn correctly (with the wire looping around the back of the ear), the headsets do a good job to pump up the mood. The treble and bass response at high levels is enough to shatter the daylights out of your eardrums. However, personally, I would have expected some more bass at lower levels. Now comes the unfortunate bit at 9k, they are far too overpriced. Considering that you can get a pair of Bose in-ear headphones for 5k and a professional set of Sennheiser headphones (from the HD range) for less than 5k, it would have been better if the UHP336 was priced closer to 5k.
