It would appear that the good folk at Microsoft are as intent on updating their hardware inventory, as they are with their software products. The Microsoft LiveChat LX2000 PC headset is an ergonomically designed stereo Internet communication device. It is foldable thus making it easy to pack without it taking up much space. It is a behind-the-head headphone with a flexible microphone. This makes using the headset a pleasure. Microsoft also includes a carrying pouch with the package, which comes in handy when you are traveling.
The cord for connecting to the PC is long at around 150cm. The cord ends in two 3.5mm jacks to plug in to the microphone port and stereo line out on the soundcard. It also has a microphone and volume control which gives you the option to switch the microphone from mute to high and low-sensi¬tivity. The headphone design makes it a joy to use, but the quality of the folding hinge is a little below par. The hinge pin fell off after 5 days of normal usage.

The LiveChat LX2000 worked well with all the messengers that we fired up on our Pc. Voices were clear and the microphone amplified the voice with the background noise suppressed. For online communication, it does what it supposed to do without a flaw. We let our MP3s roll on our Media player but were somewhat disappointed. Voice or mids were clear, but highs were distorted and there was no thumping bass felt. We compared it with the low-budget headset Intex and the latter let us feel more bass and better highs. But for Internet chat and VoIP, it delivered the goods. Overall, a nicely designed headset with great ergonomics but questionable build quality that opens the competition for other brands like Logitech or AItec Lansing.
