Sennheiser makes some great products across a really wide range. Their HD, M and PX series perform exceptionally well and many set the benchmark in their respective segments. Part of the 'Classic Line' of products, the MX and CX series cater to a variety of tastes and budgets. Clad in a plastic metallic silver casing, the MX 260 earphones look elegant and more expensive than they really are. They fit snugly and are quite comfortable even when for long durations. The asymmetrical cable makes it easy to identify Land R orientation. The bass was quite good and they had amazing clarity too, putting up quite a fight to even the Bose in-ear headphones
Considering that the Bose in-ear headphones are priced at 5k, I'd say these are great value. They're great for all sorts of music with the possible exception of trance.

The CX 400 on the other hand, is noise cancelling headphones that cost quite a bit more. They come with three different sized rubber rings for different ear sizes. The passive noise cancellation feature works well, but they're not as comfortable when you wear them for long. The audio is a little too treble happy for my tastes too. There are some niceties like a carry bag, gold plated connectors and a 1 meter extension cable in the box. But what I couldn't understand was why they've made the main cable so short. I can only presume that they did it to minimize dangling cables, but I found that I had to keep the extension cable attached most of the time, defeating the whole purpose of giving a shorter cable. Another issue was the price. At Rs 3,790, the CX 400 earphones are way too costly. You can get similar performance from the Creative EP-630 and at less than a third of the price. (The Creative EP-630 looks identical to the CX 400 too).

Overall, I'd say that MX wins a highly recommended, simply because of the price-to-performance ratio. The CX is a bit too pricey for the performance it delivers.
