With navigation at its heart, the S650 from Mapmylndia is much more than just a PND - it's what they call a navi*tainment device. It comes with a 5-inch screen and apart from a navigator, it's also a media player, a Bluetooth speakerphone, and has support for a reverse camera as well- now isn't that awesome value for your dough?
With a car charger and windscreen mount in the box, it's ready to take you places from the word go. Mapmylndia's extremely detailed maps add more places, S, details and features with each update, and the latest version loaded on this baby brings house-level maps for 18 cities, street*level data for 1027 cities and a whopping 3.95 million unique destinations in India. For Mumbai and Delhi, you also get to view landmarks in 3D. With support for images and popular audio-video formats, it's also your entertainer on the go. There's 2 gigs of built-in storage, along with a microSD slot if you want to add more. The AV-in port lets you connect it to your car entertainment system. You can also sync your contacts with it and use it as a Bluetooth speakerphone in your car.
Searching for a destination is extremely simple and intuitive, the onscreen keyboard even predicts as you enter text. You can search by address, name of the landmark etc and mark your favourites. A dedicated capture key on the left of the device lets you mark and save your current location with Just a press. The large 5-inch is great for navigation and gives you all the details you need. As usual, you can customise the view, and choose from various languages, including various Indian ones for the voice prompts. It gets a GPS fix super fast, and the navigation is quite accurate as expected - recalculating the route if you miss a turn.
A PND can't replace plain old driver intuition, but if you keep getting lost or travel frequently within the country, this is possibly the most useful accessory you can get.
