The Palm Centro, aka the Treo 500v, is the smallest and the lighest Palm based OS phone to date. This handset brings with it a number of high-end features including 3G wireless data and a full QWERTY keyboard. Appealing to a younger demographic, the Centro sports a 1.3 mega pixel camera, push mail, multimedia player and has 35MB onboard memory that can be extended up to 4GB. For enterprise users, the phone has a document viewer and editor wherein one can edit and view MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.

The device is available in a choice of two colours, Onyx Black and Ruby Red. The casing is a smooth plastic with silver rim that wraps around the sides, back and front buttons. Connectivity options include GPRS and 3G. It has a talktime of 3.5 hours with up to 12 days standby time. Unlike earlier offerings from Palm, we wonder, will this phone also come bundled with some network operator. Expected to be priced below Rs 15,000, it can actually be a smartphone for the youth. But will it revive Palm's sagging fortunes? Well, we will soon find out!
