Guide Review - Motorola PEBL Review
I really enjoyed using the Motorola PEBL. The best way to describe it is as an "upper-middle-class" phone. None of its features are totally excellent but none are all bad. It has a reasonable display quality and a fair camera. The keypad is not as good as the (similar) RAZR keypad but it's still better than many others. Battery life is acceptable, the speakerphone is okay... It shows that Motorola has put a lot of testing and work on the PEBL.
It also introduces a new way to open the flip cover: by pressing down the upper corners of the cover. It works surprisingly well but I must say that, occasionally, it wouldn't work at first try -- not sure if it's my ability or some problem. Besides, keep in mind that there may be a risk for that spring-based system to fail after a few years. But I must say I was pleasantly surprised: given its small size, the PEBL is a star. The main annoyance to me was the software. Not the most efficient system but that's a detail. For example, it takes 4-5 keypresses to send a picture by email.
