APPLE DOESN'T REST ON its laurels. After years of virgin white iPods, it now makes none, and this latest vision in black and silver looks just like the desirable iPhone.
It shares the same user interface, too, and this is where Apple's design know-how really comes into play. The 3.Sinch touchscreen display lets you navigate around your music and videos with ease, and the way the screen recognises what you want it to do is so good that this is easily the best device here to use.

It's also one of the best when it comes to video and is certainly the finest with audio. Episodes of Lost downloaded from iTunes look and sound fantastic, and video files from your PC also look great. Images are bright and colourful, with decent black levels that provide punch and drama. The screen stays impressively smear free, and there's no sign of judder especially with the iTunes-bought videos. In fact, it's all great, so why the four stars? Well, quite simply the amount of storage on offer doesn't add up when you look at the price.
