2011 is the year of the tablets, the wireless computing world has been redefined following the huge success of these devices. A lot of companies are scrambling to get their versions onto the market. Creative Has launched 7in and lain tablets, both based on Google's Android platform. They have concentrated on the audio visual experience, which is their forte. Our review unit was the 7in version along with a pair of Creative's wireless speaker and headphone. Unboxing, we found the tablet along with a charger, data cables and user manual. The build quality ofZiio is good. with good quality plastic all round. Though it feels a bit thick and heavy compared to its competitors, it was not uncomfortable to hold and use.
Creative Ziio 7in has multiple connectivity options, there is a Mini USB, a mini HDMI, an audio jack, power connector and an expansion slot for a microSD memory card supporting storage up to 32GB. ZiiO has a proprietary interface with a I GHz processor and some special features for media playback. Moving around the menus was a bit laggy though this is not apparent in performance. The 7in has a 800 x 480 pixels resolution. This makes the browsing experience a bit limited, but it is adequate for everyday tasks. The touch screen is mediocre, its resistive technology and no multi-touch make it an also ran in the tablet race. It is highly recommended to calibrate the touch screen to your satisfaction, as the factory settings on our device were offset by a clear margin.
