Default Help, my drive does not read discs

Hello, i have a laptop Asus x75a and my dvd player will not play anything. Readers are yet recognized and the installed driver is updated. I am digging right and left on the forums but I not found exactly what to do to find out if this is a hardware problem or not?

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me. I must say that the problem is not new, I remember having burned the dvd in the past, and also have put cd and everything worked perfectly, but then I could not burn the thing is that I was not a problem to the extent that I rarely use the drive, but then I need, and it does not work.

It may be that the DVD is defective, it is not the first time that this would happen if it is not guaranteed or you change the DVD player you meme, or you put an external drive.
If you are using very few DVD \ CD you created an ISO CD / DVD from another PC and you mounted the ISO from a USB flash drive with a CD or virtual finally you get the solution DVD network.
