The S544 Walkman from Sony sports a bright 2.4" LCD scratch resistant display that is visible clearly under direct sunlight. It is lightweight, but in terms of weight or dimensions it isn't anywhere close to the iPod Nano. The big thing here is that it sports a built in speaker. Sadly, the speaker itself is nothing great.

The lower edge has the proprietary charging slot and a 3.5mm audio out. On the side are the volume keys, the hold key and a slider key to toggle between headphone and loudspeaker mode.



The User interface of the Walkman is very simple and easy to use. It comes with 8GB of memory and supports voice as well as FM recording. The user has a choice to record in 160kbps MP3 format. The recorded quality of both FM and voice is superb with crystal clarity. In terms of performance, the audio output is great with good bass. The bundled earphones are also very comfortable. The player also has video playback with support of MP4 and WMV files. The FM radio reception is outstanding; the player was able to catch all 11 stations in one scan itself.

Overall, the player is a great option for people looking at a video Walkman. At around the same price, you can also consider a Sandisk Sansa View or Philips Go Gear.
