Samsung became the first vendor ofsmartphones in the third quarter 2011 with 27.8 million units sold,against 17.1 million for Apple, probably because of the expectationof the iPhone 4S.
According toStrategy Analytics, Samsung has become the third quarter of theworld's No. 1 in sales of smartphones. with 23.8% market share, with27.8 million smartphones sold, far ahead of Apple (14.6%) and Nokia(14.4%).
According to research firm, sales of Apple wereaffected by waiting for the launch of its new iPhone 4S, which waslaunched on October 14. The figures should be better at the end ofthe year for the Cupertino company. Likewise, Nokia is determined toget out the heavy artillery for the launch of its first Windows PhoneNokia 800 Lumia which hit stores a few weeks.
The factremains that the performance of Samsung impresses more than the SouthKorean automaker
represented only 9.3% market share justlast year, while Nokia shone with 32.7% .
