On talk that a distributor by the nameof Brightstar Corp. was designing with providing few smaller regionalcarriers in the States on Sony's newest Xperia line, the Sony XperiaP visited the FCC. Nowhere in the documentation or in photographs wasthere any sign of carrier branding that you might watch if a FCCvisitor was bound for one of the top four U.S. mobile operators. Themodel was originally introduced throughout MWC 2012 inBarcelona.

The Sony Xperia P, not to be confused on Sony'sTablet P, has a 4 inch TFT screen on qHD result and a pixel densitythat works out to 275 ppi. The display is produced using Sony'sWhiteMagic technology which is supposed to make the display verybright, as well when outdoors. Driving the device is a dual-core 1GHzSTE U8500 processor. There is no micro SD slot on the device whichintends you are reliant on the 16GB of native storage available onthe phone. On the rear is an 8MP camera on LED flash that capturesvideo in 1080p although a VGA front-facing shooter bringsself-portraits and enables video chats.

The FCC filingrevealed the Sony Xperia P's support for quad-band GSM, NFC and itsHSPA connectivity. Hopefully we will detect it earlier the carriersin the U.S. where the device will be hanging out.
