The new system, which operates via SMS, will allow police to send details of drivers caught for rash driving to the central server, which will provide information, if the driver was the previous record.

The system already exists for catching drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol and will soon help rein in crime as rash driving, lane cutting and jumping signals, Sunzay Passari, vice-president (value added services), BPL Mobile said. "The traffic police is in the process of obtaining their data is converted to digital format, and we expect that the process could take about three weeks", Passari said PTI.A databases have been established for drivers driving under the influence of alcohol and had been in operation since September.
