Just some weeks after voyage the 2 billion functions download milestone, Apple's App Store has irritated still another landmark form when the number of accepted applications, obtainable for download at the store went past the 100,000 mark.

The Apple App Store, out immediately previous year, has seen phenomenal increase in the period to become the main online app store. Competing mobile OS platforms like RIM, Android and Nokia (with its Ovi Store) too have come with their own editions of app stores - but none of them actually match equal to the Apple App Store both, in terms of the amount of downloads and ease of access of apps. Even the Palm Pre, which is considered a main competitor to the iPhone, does not have a store that presents as much as Apple's. In fact, the Pre, presently, has less than 500 applications for the WebOs platform! Then, there is Google's Android, which has continually been considered a worthy competitor to the iPhone platform. The Android App store boats of around 15,000 applications which in itself is fairly a huge amount but again pale in comparison to what Apple has to present.
